ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Sunday discussed overall political situation of the country with specific reference to the issues concerning the port city of Karachi with Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM) Quaid Altaf Hussain.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf once again reiterated his party’s commitment to fulfil all promises made with MQM and expressed his resolve that the alliance between the two political forces would continue in the next elections and beyond. In a telephonic contact, the MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain also termed the meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari with him a positive step and hoped that in coming days the positive outcome of the meeting between the two would start reflecting in shape of streamlining of things at various level of governance, sources aware of the deliberations informed The Nation. PM Ashraf appreciated the MQM for its support to President Asif Ali Zardari and the party’s efforts to safeguard democracy in the country.
Altaf Hussain appreciated the PM’s efforts in formulating laws pertaining granting of permission to the dual nationality holder Pakistanis to take part in the general elections.
Sources further informed that Altaf Hussain also assured his full support to the PPP government and said that MQM would stand by the PPP in addressing the challenges facing the country. Sources aware of the conversations between the two leaders further informed that PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf thanked the MQM Quaid for the warm welcome he was accorded during his visit to Nine Zero.
