SADIQABAD - At an emergency meeting of the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a unanimously adopted resolution demanded early end to the shortage of water due to closure of canals in the district during the Kharif season. The resolution urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other officials concerned to ensure provision of canal water to the farmers across the district. The meeting of the executive committee was held under the chair of RYKCCI President Muzaffar Saleem. At the meeting, the committee members said that the shortage of water in the Kharif season is tantamount to economic murder of the farmers and to destruction of crops like cotton, sugarcane and rice. The members said that not to speak of land irrigation, even cattle and people are not being provided with potable water in all the villages of the district. Kharif crops, especially cotton crop was at stake due to paucity of water. They added that lands at vast area are becoming barren becuse of water shortage. The meeting also demanded elimination of canal water thefts in Chani Goth areas. The meeting threatened that if the government was failed to resolve the problems, the chamber will act accordingly.YOUTH URGED TO SAVE COUNTRY: The PML-N Youth Wing district president urged the youth of Pakistan to get united to save the country, adding that not to call a cruel person a hooligan is tantamount to commit acts of cruelty towards the victims. "The poor should use their power of vote against landlords and feudal lords with wisdom," Sani Chohan said during a corner meeting in Jamal Town, Rahim Yar Khan. "The youth are deprived of education and ignorance has taken over the whole country," he added. Therefore, he said, the youth were being led astray by the terrorists. He said that for awareness, his party would hold training workshops to organise the youth at the union council level. He said that his party would continue its struggle in line with the Nazriya-e-Pakistan (Ideology of Pakistan) and the viewpoints of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.He said that in the forthcoming general elections, his party would field honest candidates. On the occasion, Mian Nasir Iqbal, Salim Niazi, Shaukat Ali, Dr Athar, Shakeel Khan, Arslan, Abdul Kareem, Sabir Khan, Adnan, Khaleeq, Shakeel Shahzad, Sabir, Noman and others were also present.
