ACCA, MCCI sign MoU

Payment Solution

BNU Degree Show opens with 70 artists display

LAHORE (PR): The Annual Thesis Show of the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), the Degree Show 2015 opened on May 29, 2015 at BNU’s Tarogil Campus. Present at the occasion were the Vice Chancellor, Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Dean SVAD, Rashid Rana, Prof. Salima Hashmi, Prof. Naazish Ataullah, Prof. Sajjad Kausar, faculty, students and their parents.
The event was attended by a large number of students, art academics, artists, art-critics and art-enthusiasts from across various institutions of Lahore.
This year’s SVAD Degree Show features thesis works of over 70 graduating students of Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Fibre Studies, Bachelor of Design in Jewellery and Accessory Design, Bachelor of Design in Textile and Fibre Studies, BFA Visual Arts, BFA Visual Communication Design and MA Art and Design Studies.
The Degree Show will continue till June 03, 2015 and will be open to public every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at BNU’s Tarogil Campus, 13 Km, Raiwind Road, Lahore.

UCP ranked 2nd by HEC in Business Category
LAHORE (PR): According to the notification issued by HEC, University of Central Punjab (UCP) has secured over all 7th position in the country obtaining 73.4PC points and it has also been declared as Second Best University in Punjab in the same category. The ranking has been done mainly on the basis of teaching quality and research. The ranking of UCP has significantly improved over the year.
The faculty and the students at the university have appreciated the achievement and have resolved to work even harder in the coming years for achieving even better position in the country by ensuring quality education and enhancing its research capabilities.  

Amreli Steels implements SAP
Karachi (PR): Amreli Steels Limited, Pakistan’s largest selling brand of steel bars, has successfully implemented SAP – the leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution in the world. The company completed implementation on May 11, 2015 and is running the platform smoothly since then.

Amreli Steels has completed its first phase of SAP implementation and hopes to start implementation of phase two a year from now. The company foresees installation of modules relating to plant maintenance and business intelligence in the future. Amreli has also upgraded its complete IT infrastructure to cater for this second phase, working with leading suppliers such as Dell and Multinet to ensure servers, storage, connectivity and internet access are robust and reliable.

Multiple sclerosis disease

LAHORE (PR): "World MS Day, that falls on the last Wednesday of May every year, unites MS organisations globally, helps raise awareness about multiple sclerosis and those living with MS to improve public understanding and support that will move us closer to a world free of MS," said Ms. Afroz Syed, President of the Society for Multiple Sclerosis Patients in Pakistan.
  She further said, "Together We're Stronger! The 2015 World MS Day campaign is focused on finding positive ways to celebrate both the big and small things that people and organisations have done to help make life less difficult for those affected by MS."
  The Leading Neurologist of Pakistan, Dr Amir Ikram said, "Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and demyelinating disease of the central nervous system predominantly involving the white matter."
  Furthermore, Dr Ikram said, "There has been an increase in the prevalence of MS globally, with studies showing 30 cases in a population of 100,000 that are affected with this neurological disease. The prevalence of MS varies considerably in Asian countries. There are no epidemiological studies available from Pakistan; however, in India, the reported prevalence is 3 cases in a population of 100,000."
   

KE issues Rs22b Sukuk

KARACHI (PR): According to a K-Electric press release, the company expressed its pride in announcing that the KE Sukuk issue of PKR 22 billion, including a green shoe option of PKR 2 billion, has been fully subscribed on its launch day. The Sukuk has a tenor of 7 years and is rated AA+ by the JCR-VIS Credit Rating Agency Limited. It is the largest listed Sukuk issue in Pakistan’s corporate history and will offer investors lucrative value for their investment. It will also be listed in the stock exchanges of Karachi in June 2015.
Spokesperson K-Electric said that this strategic initiative will have far-reaching benefits for KE in executing its long term business strategy.
Future investment plans of the Company include investing in generation capacity addition & efficiency improvement, along with augmentation of the transmission & distribution network, improving system reliability and execution of loss reduction projects.
He further said that KE management is grateful to its stakeholder for their continued trust in KE, stating that the subscription of KE Sukuk on the day of launch clearly reflects confidence and trust of retail and institutional investors in KE as an entity, its professional management and its sound growth strategy.
