KARACHI (APP) - Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri has said that the government will soon announce a policy for pollution control and energy conservation. She was speaking at a recently held Earth Day Carnival, jointly organised by Promoloon and UHU at Sindbad Kids park in connection with World Environment Day. Social Welfare Minister Begum N D Khan, was also present on the occasion. Shazia Marri underlined the need for a joint struggle to solving these problems which were the outcome of population explosion in the country. "This is a challenge and concerned departments will be reactivated to enforce environment laws in the industrial and commercial organisation to control pollution", she added. She noted that children and women can play an important role in pollution control and energy conservation. Ms Marri appreciated the efforts of the organisers in creating awareness about the environment and said the government will support such activities. Begum N D Khan said that her department will soon launch a campaign in the province for encouraging pollution free environment, health and population welfare. More than 15,000 students, teachers and parents visited the carnival and appreciated the efforts of the organisers. A drawing competition on the topic of "My World" was also held on this occasion where 500 entries were registered. Both the ministers reviewed the drawings and gave away prizes among the winners. They also visited the stalls.
