LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz on Sunday took a strict notice of diesel shortage in some cities of the province and ordered the administration to take a stern action against the hoarders.

He directed the authorities concerned to take all possible steps to ensure the availability of diesel and ordered the administration to regularly check petrol pumps in their respective districts.

The chief minister issued these directions while chairing a meeting at the CM’s office to ascertain the reasons behind the shortage of diesel and steps being taken to ensure its availability in the province.

The CM remarked that farmers were his brothers and he fully understood their problems, adding that contact with the federal government to ensure uninterrupted supply of diesel should be made forthwith. The lawmakers and officers concerned also attended the meeting while commissioners and deputy commissioners participated in the meeting via video link.

Also, the chief minister chaired a meeting at the CM’s office to review wheat procurement target and flour prices. He vowed that he would ensure the provision of subsidised flour at every cost for the protection of the rights of the people.

The chief minister emphasised to provide maximum relief to the masses by adopting best strategy and directed to provide them quick relief. He resolved to undertaking steps to provide relief to the people. Furthermore, the chief minister reviewed law and order situation in the province and security arrangements of foreigners, especially the Chinese.

He was chairing a meeting at the CM’s office in which arrangements being made to ensure the life and property of the masses on Eidul Fitr also came under consideration. The chief minister directed to ensure foolproof security on the moon night and Eid congregations as well as mobilise district law and order committees. He urged the public representatives to play their proactive role for the betterment of law and order in their respective districts and no stone should be left unturned for ensuring the security of the masses.

The CM ordered to undertake effective steps against one-wheeling and directed to take indiscriminate action against the wheelie doers. He resolved that no compromise would be made on the steps being taken for ensuring the safety and security of the masses.

The Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) and other officials concerned gave him a briefing on the arrangements being made for the security of the people across the province.
