Rawalpindi-Highwaymen temporarily blocked Phulina Kas Road and snatched car from police officer at gunpoint besides looting cash and other valuables from passengers were in limits of Police Station Gujar Khan, informed sources on Saturday.
The victim police officer namely Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ishtiaq is the incharge of Police Post Qazian (controlled by police station Gujar Khan) where the incident took place, they said.
SP Saddar Division Ahmed Zunair Cheema rushed to the scene and began investigation.
A group of highwaymen having sophisticated weapons set up looting stage at Phulina Kas by blocking road and stopped many vehicles, beat up passengers, and snatched cash and valuables from them.
A police officer namely ASI Ishtiaq while travelling in his car was also intercepted by the daocits and snatched vehicle from him.
The dacoits also opened firing on a car owner when he put vehicle in reverse gear after seeing robbers busy in looting other passengers. However, the car driver remained unhurt and fled from scene, sources said.
After committing the crime, dacoits managed to flee from the scene while police began search operation to arrest them. Reportedly, officials of Police Station Koral has recovered the car of ASI and handed it over to Gujar Khan police.
Similarly, a gang of three armed dacoits intercepted a citizen Waqas Ahmed while he was traveling on Dadocha Road in his car. The dacoits snatched car and cash from him and fled, sources said.
Rawat police filed case on complaint of accused and began investigation with no arrest or recovery so far.
