Rescue-1122 responses to 805 emergencies in Lakki last month

LAKKI MARWAT -The district’s emergency service Rescue 1122 received a total of 12243 calls and responded to 805 emergencies over the last month, said a Rescue-1122 spokesman.
Giving details, he said that out of the total emergency calls, 10512 were irrelevant or fake which should be avoided.
During one month period, he said, the rescue service shifted about 701 patients to various hospitals while tackling a total of 805 emergencies including 694 medical, 69 road accidents, four bullet injury or fight and 20 recoveries.
During these emergencies, a total of 701 injured were shifted to hospitals besides giving prompt first aid and other medical facilities.
He said a total of 12243 calls were received by the emergency service, but 10512 of them were irrelevant or fake calls which should be avoided, he added.
During last month, the rescue 1122 teams also handled 267 referral cases during various emergencies, out of which 131 were within the district and patients were shifted from one tehsil to another. It also successfully handled 136 emergency incidents in which patients were shifted from one district to another.
During the referral-related emergencies, the spokesman said, a total of 282 patients were benefited or rescued.
He said that Rescue 1122 teams were fully equipped with all necessary equipment and they had been efficiently rendering their services during emergencies.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 service and the state-run oil marketing company-Pakistan State Oil (PSO) jointly conducted a mock exercise to demonstrate skills pertaining to provision of first medical aid and tackling fire-eruption incidents.
The drill was conducted as per directives of Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Eng Fasihullah Khan to further enhance the operational capacity of rescue teams.
The teams conducted practical demonstrations on how to act when one met a medical emergency in homes, public places or road accidents and subsequently provided first medical aid to people.
The personnel demonstrated about provision of first aid to the injured in case of road mishaps and subsequently their safe shifting to nearby hospitals.
The rescue teams also exhibited skills regarding fire safety measures and to deal with emergencies in case of fire eruption on a small scale.
