LAHORE - Two men died while three others wounded critically when a tree fell on them near Girja Chowk in the cantonment area, rescue workers said yesterday.

Police were yet to ascertain the identity of victims. The bodies were moved to the morgue while the injured were shifted to the Services Hospital.

Muhammad Younis, a spokesperson for the Edhi ambulance service said, that one of the victims died on the spot while the other expired in the hospital during medical treatment. The condition of the injured was said to be stable.

Initial investigations revealed that the tree fell on some motorists all of a sudden. Authorities were investigating the incident.

Accident claims life

A 55-year-old man yesterday died shortly after a speedy truck bumped into his motorcycle on the Ring Road in Shadbagh. Police identified the victim as Hameed, a resident of Narowal district.

The man riding on a motorcycle was going somewhere when a truck smashed into his two-wheeler on the Ring Road. As a result, he died on the spot. The police impounded the truck while the driver managed to escape from the scene. Further investigations were underway.


A 22-year-old man was found staffed in a bag in the fields near Barkat Town in Shahdara. The mutilated body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy. Police were yet to ascertain the identity of the victim. Investigators were treating the killing as a “blind murder.”

A police investigator said the body, packed in a sack, was lying in the fields as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted a suspected bag in the fields and alerted the police. An official said that apparently it seemed that the killers cut the body into pieces, packed it in a sack, and fled after throwing the bag in the fields. The police yesterday filed a murder case against unidentified killers and were investigating with o arrest made yet.
