ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Wednesday assured Ambassador of Japan to Islamabad that Pakistan would help in evacuating those Afghan nationals from Afghanistan who work for Japan-based institutions and organisations.

Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Matsuda Kuninori called on Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed here at the ministry in this connection.

According to a statement issued by the interior ministry, both sides discussed bilateral relations.

The ambassador appreciated the efforts of Pakistan in safe evacuation of foreigners from Afghanistan. He also sought Pakistan’s help to evacuate those Afghan nationals who are working with Japan-based institutions. Sheikh Rashid said that the government was utilising all its resources to evacuate foreigners including Afghan nationals from Afghanistan. He said that facilitation centre of the Ministry of Interior was working round the clock in this regard. The minister said that Pakistan was already hosting around four million Afghan refugees for the last four decades.
