Woman cricketer faces life threats

Demands government to provide protection

GUJRANWALA - Pakistan women's cricket team all-rounder Nida Rashid Dar claimed on Saturday that her former brother-in-law had threatened to kill.
The all-rounder claimed that she had been abused by her former brother-in-law Junaid Sindhu who was now threatening to kill her. She claimed that Sindhu demanded extortion money which she refused, leading him to threaten her with dire consequences.
According to Nida Dar, though the police have registered a case five days ago, it has failed to arrest the accused so far.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) contacted Nida Dar but she refused the board's help, stating that it was her family matter. Nida is expected to be part of the women's cricket team scheduled to tour Australia and represent Pakistan at the Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Nida asked government to provide protection after being allegedly tortured by her brother in law. She said the case for separation of her sister, Sonia and her brother-in-law Jamshed Sindho was being proceeded adding that Jamshed visited her house on Eid’s first day and abused her including other family members threatening to kill her.
The national women cricketer said that following the incident she had been stuck in to the house and asked government to give protection.
