CIA releases four hardened criminals

LAHORE Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Ichhra Police allegedly freed four hardened criminals after nabbing them on pointation of a member of gang comprised of about 20 criminals including eight women for reasons best known to the police, TheNation learnt on Sunday. The scandal was unearthed when an accused described this before CIA Ichhra Police on condition of an approver. Police also apprehended four people including one woman some 10 days back but released them after an unexplained compromise; a member of this gang disclosed this with TheNation. The accused of this gang confessed they were indulged in felony acts from several years in Punjab capital. CCPO Aslam Tareen, however, said if the role of the accused who wished to be approver was minimum then police would consider him approver. If he has committed heinous crimes then he would be arrested and treated as criminal, he added. According to modus operandi, the gang introduced a woman as housemaid with any family, commonly the resident of posh area, who worked and observed the situation of the targeted house. At suitable time, she committed the crime. Above 250 robbery and dacoity bids were committed during the last six years, in which the approver was also the part of this gang. According to approver namely Mian Ali Imran, resident of Nonarian Chowk in Gulshan Ravi Police area, along with his spouse Gulshan Bibi took part in such criminal acts from the last six years. In fact one day I knew through my younger son that my 16-year-old elder daughter Sana Ali, student of class 8th, was near to be misused by my wife Gulshan Bibi when I turned my mind, he remarked. He said he immediately phoned Incharge CIA Ichhra Inspector Rana Haseeb Anjum and confessed his crime besides promising to coordinate in making arrest of his accomplices as an approver. He said Rana Haseeb along with ASI Mehboob Rabani apprehended four accused including his wife from two different areas of the City and recovered Rs 1.4 million in cash, foreign currency, gold ornaments, diamonds, and other valuables some 10 days back. CIA released three accomplices namely Ali, Waqas, Abdul Majid but detained Gulshan Bibi in police station, he added. He alleged Rana Haseeb and Mehboob Rababi confiscated the cash and other valuables worth over Rs 2 million and released the accused. He also named the other members of the gang including a 60-year-old goldsmith Ahmed Ali, his son Shafiq, Majid, Tahir, Faisan, Rashid, Rana Adrees, Ahsan Ali, Rizwan Ali, Waqas, Shahbaz, Gulshan Bibi, Sakeena Bibi, Komal Bibi, Razia Bibi and four other unidentified accused women. Rana Haseeb, however, completely declined of the incident said he was unaware about the incident while interestingly ASI Mehboob said he arrested four people including one woman from Samanabad and Dubinpura but released three among them after interrogating them thoroughly. He, however, said two cases had been registered with Sherakot and Muslim Town police stations against Gulshan and Imran.
