| Administration fears TLYR head might again sit at the twin cities’ junction or proceed to Mumtaz Qadri’s grave in Bara Kahu
Islamabad-The law-enforcement agencies have decided to block Faizabad interchange today as they fear that Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool head Khadim Hussain Rizvi might again sit at the junction of the twin cities against delay in release of Raja Zafarul Haq committee’s report on amendment in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat oath.
The TLYR head might also lead a procession to the grave of Mumtaz Qadri in Bhara Kahu after the chehlum of ‘Faizabad martyrs’ at Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi tomorrow, sources revealed.
The sources added that prime concern of the district administration was that participants of the chehlum might not proceed towards the grave of Mumtaz Qadri in Bhara Kahu. The religious parties including the TLYR would be participating in the chehlum of those killed during Faizabad operation on November 25, 2017, at Liaqat Bagh at 10 am, according to the schedule of the programme.
On November 25, as many as six people were killed and several others were wounded as the law enforcement agencies finally acted upon court orders to disperse protesters who had camped out at the Faizabad Interchange for nearly three weeks after all the efforts to resolve the issue had failed and the latest of a series of deadlines given to the protesters to disperse peacefully had lapsed.
Those killed were later identified as Hafiz Adeel, Jahanzaib Butt, Abdul Rehman, Sharjeel, Zohaib and Irfan. A number of senior police officials and nine cops were also injured in the clashes.
The protesters were pushing the government for identifying and taking action against the elements behind amendment in declaration of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat. However, the LEAs failed to dislodge the protesters and ultimately, the army intervened and the government had to accept demands of the protesters.
One of the TLYR’s demands is to public Raja Zafrul Haq committee’s report on who was behind the amendment in declaration of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat oath within one month. However, the report is still awaited.
The city administration fears that Rizvi, taking a plea that the government is reluctant to public the report, might again stage a protest at Faizabad interchange or might proceed to Bhara Kahu to the grave of Mumtaz Qadri for political mileage.
Qadri had killed former governor Punjab Salman Taseer in 2011 and the religious parties regard him as a hero.
According to the sources, a meeting was held at the office of the chief commissioner Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss strategy to bar entry of the chehlum participants into the capital. They said that heavy deployment of the LEAs would be made to bar the participants of the chehlum into the capital as ‘there is every chance of things turning uglier.’
The police have made special arrangements including providing necessary logistic support needed to the LEAs, said the sources. “The police is determined and would not let the participants enter into the capital,” said a senior official privy to the meeting details.
