Woman strangled for ‘honour’; man commits suicide

KASUR - A woman was strangled allegedly by her husband for ‘honour’ while a man committed suicide by consuming poison here the other day.

According to Sarai Mughal police, Imran, resident of Halla village, suspected that his wife Sajida Bibi had developed illicit relations with someone of the same village. He argued with his wife over the issue and strangled her with an iron wire. Police shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem and registered a case against the accused. In another incident, a 32-year-old man, Naveed, resident of Mustafabad, consumed poison after becoming disappointed with prolonged illness he was suffering from. He was rushed to hospital but he could not survive.


Three persons were injured here in different traffic accidents. In Mianke Khat, Chunian, two persons identified as Khurram Shehzad and Imtiaz were injured in collision between a tractor-trolley and motorcycle rickshaw.

On Chunian Road, Ellahabad, a motorcyclist, Abdul Rehman, was injured after the motorbike he was travelling on was hit by a loader van near Salaman Rice Mills. Local police are investigating.
