PDMA urges KP people to adopt preventive measures in monsoon season  

Peshawar    -   The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has urged the citizens to adopt precautionary measures owing to current monsoon season.


Director General PDMA Sharif Hussain said that people must keep themselves away from electric poles, sign boards and trees in rain and storms. He advised to masses to avoid throwing garbage in sewerage lines as it causes blocked that leads to inundation of the area. He also called to maintain the drainage system of roof tops and to clean the sewerage lines.


PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instructed the residents of low-laying areas to move their important households from basements to upper floors or safer places. It also advised the masses to keep themselves protected from viral diseases which usually breakout in such season. They asked people not to touch bare wires, avoid usage of electrical home appliances with faulty, bare and cracked electrical wires.


Taimur Ali, spokesperson PDMA, said that officials of the concerned departments and district administration have been asked to remain alert during the current spell of rains to avoid any untoward incident. He said that awareness is being created in public through mass media to take precautionary measures. He said that helpline of the PDMA 1700 is functional and can be contacted anytime in case of any emergency.
