MIRPUR (AJK) - Since the process of filing of nomination papers by the prospective candidates both from different political parties and independent candidates, to vie for the scheduled June 26 general elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir has completed, appeals against rejection/acceptance of the nomination papers could be filed before the AJK Chief Election Commissioner on Friday (today) before 2:00pm in his office at Islamabad, May 26 was the last day for filing of the nomination papers according to the elections schedule. Scrutiny of the nomination papers was held on May 30 and the final list of the eligible candidates was made public the same day by all the Returning Officers. According to the schedule announced by the AJK EC, the candidates would be able to lodge appeals in the central office of the AJK EC till June 3, 2011 by 2:00pm against the acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers, the AJK EC sources told AH Rao here Thursday. According to detail, the candidates filed their nominations with the concerned ROs from their respective constituencies for contesting polls for all 29 seats of AJK and 12 seats meant for Pakistan-based refugees of Jammu region in the state Legislative Assembly.
