Early pollen observed in twin cities: PMD  

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday said that early pollen has been observed in twin cities and will increase in upcoming days.

In a statement issued here the PDM said that due to temperature increase, the pollen concentration has started to increase rapidly in Islamabad/Rawalpindi.

Met Office informed that pollen will further increase in the coming days. The pollen is likely to attain peak during the second fortnight of March 2021 in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. It also advised that people suffering from pollen allergy are advised to take the precautionary measures accordingly. The details released said that the most abundant pollen types in Islamabad are from eight plant species (i.e. paper mulberry, acacia, eucalyptus, pines, grasses, cannabis, dandelion and alternaria). It further said that out of all these plants, paper mulberry shares about 97% of the total pollen and its concentration touches the extreme limits of around 45,000 per cubic meter of air at the peak of the blossom season. A statement added that PMD will continuously publish pollen concentration data throughout the pollen season on its website and print/electronic media on daily basis.
