Class 9 students face difficulties in getting admission

SWABI Students who wanted to get admission in science group in 9th class are facing numerous problems across the district due to different approaches adopted by the managements of both public and private sector schools, said the sources here on Sunday. The sources said that the students could not get free choice to join the science group and majority of students in each institution opted for the science; however, the teachers did not allow what they called the incompetent students to acquire admission in the group of their choice. These students (the incompetent students) should study the humanities group instead of science. I know that they would stick in the Secondary School Certificate examination. None of them would be able to pass their exam on one hand and becoming the source of dishonour for our institution on the other, said a student while quoting the science teacher of a public sector school. The students said that those who came from the middle to high schools were badly hit by this approach as they were made bound to appear in the test and if they failed to qualify then they have to opt for the humanities group. They said that the students were not prepared for the test and if they failed or failed by the examiner it was not possible for them to question the science teacher. It has been learnt that some of the students who approached either to the science teacher or the headmaster/principal, were succeeded but majority of them had suffered and forced to join the humanities group. When contacted the teachers said that they did not prohibit the students on such large scale but declared that the best option for the dull students was to join the humanities group. Meanwhile, it has been learnt that there was great rush of the students in each school, especially in the city areas. In one of the high schools in the Swabi city there are six classes of 9th class and the number of the students has been increasing. We did not know how this issue could be tackled. The rush in building up more, said a teacher, who is member of the admission committee.
