11 gangs smashed, 702 POs held

LAHORE - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen has said that not only the criminals but their abettors should also be prosecuted and put behind the bars, police spokesman said on Monday. According to an official handout, in order to control crime in the City and in view of vision given by IG Punjab pertaining to the motto of Safe Punjab, a special task was assigned by CCPO Aslam Tareen to DIG Investigation Ali Amir Malik and SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaq aimed at arresting proclaimed offenders and persons involved in other heinous crimes in the City. The police spokesman further said that the investigation police arrested 50 culprits of 11 criminal gangs and retrieved stolen property worth Rs 20 million during last 15 days of the month of April, whereas 702 proclaimed offenders have also been arrested during this period. The police have recovered 20 stolen cars and 58 motorcycles from the possession of the criminals. Meanwhile, 20 cases of murder, three cases of kidnapping for ransom, four cases of dacoity, robbery cum murder, four cases of dacoity and 31 cases of robbery have challaned. The CCPO ordered that special attention should be paid to unearth cases of terrorism, kidnap for ransom, dacoity, murder, extortion, besides arrests of proclaimed offenders. He further directed Lahore Police officers to keep a watchful eye on social crimes and those patronizing Qabza groups and ensure effective steps against them. The CCPO said every police officer and official of Lahore Police would have to play its effective role in eradiation of crimes and protection of life and property of citizens. Tareen said police officials adopting negative attitude towards citizens would not be tolerated. He called upon Lahore Police officers to strike hard against gangs involved in heinous crimes in the City. CCPO said that immediate action, without any discrimination, on every complaint of citizen should be Lahore Polices motto to increase confidence of the people on the working of police.
