Islamabad - Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Monday finalised a comprehensive security and patrolling plan on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr besides augmenting the security at public places, worship places and other important buildings to thwart any untoward incident.

According to the security plan, more than 3500 policemen would perform security duties during Eid days and guard religious gatherings at open places, Masajid and Imambargahs.

A meeting in that regard was held here under the chairmanship of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younus. DIG Operations, SSP Operations, SSP Security, SSP Investigation, AIG Special Branch, AIG Operations, all Zonal SPs and SP Security were present on the occasion.

The meeting has also cancelled the holidays of all police personnel to ensure the safety of people during Eid days.

The Bomb Disposal Squad would conduct checking of various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregations.

IGP Islamabad would personally monitor the security situation in the city whereas a control room was also set up at Islamabad safe city to monitor the city with the help of safe city cameras.

The personnel of the special police force were deployed into the markets and public places on Chaand Raat and commandos and eagle squads would patrol the markets, providing security for 1032 mosques and 28 imambargahs including Faisal Mosque for Eid prayers.

The contingent of anti-terrorist squad and counter terrorism department would be on high alert to avert any untoward situation.

The one wheeling, rioting, un-registered motorcycles, and aerial firing were strictly prohibited in the city. Special checkpoints would set up to prevent such incidents.

All SHOs have been directed to hold meetings and brief the security guards in their respective areas for crime prevention.

IGP Islamabad has directed the officers to stay alert during Eid holidays and pay frequent visits in the field and perform duties with utmost vigilance, kindness and good faith.
