Faisalabad - Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has sent the request to Punjab government for seeking approval of 104 new posts of different cadres for Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) while business model is being envisaged to run financial matter of TEPA in order to make the traffic management system of Faisalabad city on scientific lines through proper road engineering and planning. This was revealed during a meeting of TEPA held here on Saturday with Vice Chairperson FDA Firdous Rai in the chair. Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General (DG) Dr Faisal Azim was also present in the meeting while Chief Corporation Officer Faisalabad Metropolitan Municipal Corporation Ch Zubair Ahmed, Director PHA Abdullah Nisar Cheema, Director IT FDA Yasir Ijaz Chatta, Municipal Officer Khalid Javed, DSP Traffic Imran Sharif, Deputy Director TEPA Habib-ur-Rehman, Assistant Director Engineering Umair Asghar and others officers were included in the participants of the meeting. Vice Chairperson FDA welcomed the participants and said that coordinated strategy would be evolved to make TEPA functional on strong footings for city traffic management on advanced requirements with new passion. She thanked Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar for initiating steps and extending cooperation for TEPA activation.
She asked the concerned departments’ representatives to share a plan within a week relating to requited TEPA measures for coordinated planning. She vowed that exemplary traffic management system would be provided in Faisalabad city under the arrangements of TEPA and cooperation of citizens was vital to follow the traffic rules as a civilised nation.
FDA DG Dr Faisal Azim informed the meeting that FDA had already written to the Punjab government for approval of 104 posts for TEPA as sanctioning of new expenditures (SNE) for durable functioning of TEPA redressing the longstanding issues of traffic management in the city while funds would be generated by FDA by introducing business model. He started that technical cooperation would also be sought from Lahore Development Authority (LDA) TEPA to streamline the roads engineering and planning. He expressed his pleasure over nomination of MPA Firsous Rai as Vice Chairperson FDA and said that now TEPA activities would be floated under her leadership. He stressed upon initiating wide awareness campaign to create road use sense and adherence of traffic rules. The participants of meeting assured their full cooperation for running the TEPA more effectively.
