SHEIKHUPURA - A mob blocked the main Sharqpur Chowk and suspended vehicular movement for more than three hours as a protest against the murder of an abducted student.
Touseef Anwer was kidnapped five days ago in the limits of Sharqpur police when he was on his way to school. The student of 10th class was a resident of village Bhoniwal. After the abduction, the abductors contacted his relatives and demanded a huge amount as ransom warning the family of not disclosing the issue to the police.
Though the family did not inform the police and gave them Rs150,000 as ransom, yet they murdered Touseef and threw his body in Khan Pur area. After the murder, the family members and local people gathered at the Main Sharqpur Chowk and blocked the road as a protest.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the government over the poor law and order and demanded early arrest of the killers. Later, DPO Rana Abdul Jabbar and SP (Investigation) Umer Riaz along with heavy contingent of police reached the spot and succeeded to disperse the mob. The officials assured the protesters of early arrest of the culprits. However, the police claimed to have arrested two suspects in this connection and said the remaining accused would also be arrested soon.

ROBBERY: A labourer was deprived from cash, mobile phone and other valuable by two robbers in the wee hours of Saturday. Waqas Ahsan, a resident of Ghang Road, was on his way to home. Near Girls School No 1, two robbers intercepted him at gunpoint and looted cash, mobile phone and other valuables.
