ISLAMABAD - Naveed Alam former Pakistan Hockey team player and ex-Olympian has requested to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to save Pakistan hockey from complete disaster. He also demanded immediately sacking of PHF Secretary Asif Bajwa along with the entire selection committee as these have already earned a lot of bad name for the country and their silence on human trafficking issue is further creating problems for the country. Naveed Alam during a press conference here at National Press Club on Thursday said, We demand the sacking of all these persons by the President Asif Ali Zardari or Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and we will not accept Qasim Zia's termination of these persons as he had also terminated the entire selection committee when Pakistan finished last in the Hockey World Cup, but after some time all those persons were reinstated, so there is no purpose of hoping any miracle from Qasim Zia, President Pakistan Hockey Federation, who is unaware that what is going right under his nose. Alam further alleged that Qasim Zia is equally responsible for bringing bad name for the country as PHF official letter pads were used for human trafficking and Qasim Zia never bothers to look in to this horrifying matter. Naveed Alma said: We will wait for two weeks if this entire selection committee along with Asif Bajwa and Rana Mujahid were not sacked by the President or Prime Minister then we will announce our further line of action. He said they will use all options including launching a complaint to International Hockey Federation (FIH). He also demanded the immediately restoration of former PHF Secretary Khalid Mehmood as he was doing a great job for Pakistan Hockey and his sacking was illegal. Naveed also revealed that this Pakistan team has been divided in to two groups and during the European tour team management and players were not at the same page and insiders have confirmed there was a tussle between players and management, he said. Naved Alam said: Nawaz Junior, brother of ex-Olympian Shahbaz Junior is under FIA custody and his other partners are also arrested and sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore, he demanded an impartial inquiry for exemplary punishments to the culprits involved in the scam, he concluded.
