Six terrorists held, arms recovered

QUETTA - Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the provincial government will continue operation against militants till complete elimination of terrorism.

He said law enforcement agencies (LEAs), in an action, had arrested six persons involved in bomb blasts and recovered arms from them.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, he said terrorists were targeting security forces, general public, besides destroying the public installations which should not be tolerated and allowed at all.

The ongoing war on terror will continue till elimination of the last terrorist, he pledged.

Sarfraz Bugti urged the common man to be vigilant, keep watch on his surroundings and extend all sorts of assistance with the laws enforcement agencies’ personnel engaged in providing security to their lives and properties.

The home minister said that six terrorists including commander of a banned outfit had been detained during a crackdown of the security forces in the provincial capital.

He said the detainees confessed to their involvement in Quetta Police Lines, Saraib and Spini Road blasts, besides other terror activities. It should be mentioned that 30 police personnel including a DIG were martyred and scores injured in blast at mosque at Quetta Police Lines.

Bugti said arms were recovered from the possession of the detainees who had been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Meanwhile, Frontier Corps (FC) arrested five suspects and recovered arms from their possession in Kashmir Abad area of provincial capital.

According to FC spokesman, acting on a tip off, FC personnel carried out a search operation in Kashmir Abad's Khilji area and apprehended five suspects.

Weapons including 4 pistols, 3 rifles and rounds were recovered from their possession.

Further investigation was underway.
