PMAs free medical camp continues

GUJRAT - The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Gujrat City chapter held a 8 days long free medical camp in collaboration with doctors from England for diagnose and treatment of patients of gastroenterology and cirrhosis, the diseases of lungs and liver that cause Hepatitis B &C. The free camp was organised with the aim to check an increased incidence of patients with these diseases in the district. The medical camp was set up at a local clinic which will continue till December 9. Head of the camp gastroenterologist from England, Dr Ghazanfar Chaudhry told TheNation that there was a dire need for holding such free medical camps since a large number of patients were suffering from Hepatitis B and C and liver diseases which would lead to liver cancer. He said that the treatment of such diseases in Pakistan cost Rs100,000 which a poor patient could not afford. He, however, said that they had made available all facilitates free at the camp. On the occasion, PMA Gujrat President Dr Asif Bukhari said that such free medical camps could be kept continue if well-off people facilitate the PMA in its efforts for the cause.
