SADIQABAD - In a bid to ensure maximum security and maintain law and order in Rahim Yar Khan during Muharram, the law enforcement agencies held a flag marches in the district and reviewed security arrangements. On the directives of the district police officer, the police held the flag march which was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashfaq Ahmad. The City Circle flag march was also joined by City A-Division Police Station Head Officer Inspector Jamshed Ali Shah, B-Division police SHO Inspector Muhammad Aslam, Abe Hayyat police SHO Inspector Nazir Hussain Shah, C-Division ASI Murid Abbas, Airport police ASI Maqsood Ahmad and Elite Force Police ASI Saad Khan. The law enforcers also reviewed security arrangements on mourning processions routes and at mosques and Imambargahs. Likewise, another such march led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Tanveer Hussain was held in the Sadiqabad Circle. However, as many as 2,500 police personnel, 800 national volunteers and 918 Shia volunteers are discharging their duties to protect lives nad property of the people across the district. Moreover, at each religious congregation and mourning procession, two Peace Committee members remain present. Following the Interior Department Punjab orders, the law enforcement agencies made maximum security arrangements to during Muharram. The department further directed in its dispatch to the agencies that all the sensitive places be provided high security to avoid any untoward incident during the holy month, directing them not to show any leniency in checking people and not to take any chance and keep a vigilant eye on criminals and terrorists. The Special Branch Office imparted training to volunteers regarding checking and frisking everyone to be participating in Muharram processions and other gatherings at Imambargahs, mosques and other sensitive places. The training was imparted on the directives of the Lahore additional inspector general (special branch) and Bahawalpur Region senior superintendent of police (special branch). In the training session, the volunteers especially belonging to Shia Muslims were imparted training of frisking visitors of processions and gatherings through metal detectors and scanners.
