Rs5m grant for Hanif Mohammad

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister M Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday approved a special grant of Rs 5 million for the cricket legend Hanif Mohammad.  Also known as 'little master' for his excellent performance in Test cricket, Hanif, 79, is suffering from liver cancer. He was born in 1934 in the Junagadh state of British India.  He played for the Pakistani cricket team in 55 Test matches between 1952/53 and 1969/70 and averaged 43.98, with 12 hundreds. He played the longest Test innings and held the world record for the highest first-class score till a couple of decades back. Hanif is also the recipient of the President's Pride of Performance Award (1958).
