Folk artists from Sindh to present musical show at Lok Mela today

Dozens of handicrafts stalls have been set up in the Sindh Pavilion

ISLAMABAD - Folk artists will entertain citizens at Sindh Pavilion with musical show in ongoing Lok Mela today.
According to the details released by the Lok Virsa, folk artists of Sindh will present a musical show on the fifth day of the annual Lok Mela organised by Lok Virsa. Musical night of folk artists of Sindh province will be held on November 5 (today) at 7pm at Open Air Theatre in which famous folk singers of Sindh will take part.
Lok Virsa is promoting national unity and harmony through the festival, as well as encouraging people in the field to pass on the art from generation to generation. 
The Sindh Pavilion, like other provinces, has been beautifully decorated in the festival. The Sindh Department of Culture, which has been regularly participating in this national festival every year for the last several decades, is honoured to come before other provinces to start the work of decorating and constructing its pavilion at the Lok Mela. Dozens of handicraft stalls have been set up in the Sindh Pavilion where Sindh artisans are busy making various handicrafts in their respective fields. Among the famous handicrafts of Sindh, Ajrak, which is made in many designs and colours and not only worn as a chador but also by women making their own suits which look very beautiful while wearing them. It is also very popular. People also like the famous hat and buy it with great enthusiasm. Similarly, Sindhi lingi and khes are also very popular and women buy them and decorate their homes. 
The stalls of Sindhi handicrafts decorated at the Lok Mela include Sindhi hats, ajrak, khes, lingi, leather embroidery, Hyderabadi bangles, ralli, pottery work, lacquer art, tile/ blueprint, block printing and glass framework. Gendarme work, also called art, is made of wood with different colours. Similarly, the famous craft of hala, blue pottery, which is made of pottery and cooked in a kiln and then painted in different colours, is a famous handicraft of Sindh. Ralli is also a famous handicraft of Sindh which is made by dyeing old clothes and sewing the pieces together with a needle which is made with many colours as well as beautiful designs. In addition, the people living in the Thar area of Sindh build houses called “Chora” in Sindhi language, an example of which is present in the Sindh Pavilion. It is made by attaching a special material gas called Khip in Sindhi to a wooden frame which prevents the severity of cold and stays cool in heat. The Sindh Pavilion also has stalls selling traditional Sindhi dishes including Shikar Puri Achar, Sindhi Mawa (Khoya), Sindhi Pakoda and Biryani.
Yesterday, folk artists of Balochistan performed their art in Balochistan Musical Night which was appreciated and appreciated by a large number of spectators in the open theatre.
