High officials of Pakistan government and military have been pointing out India's sinister designs in Afghanistan for some time now. On April 23, in the in-camera sitting of the Senate, Interior Minister Rehman Malik showed documentary proofs of Indian involvement in Afghanistan from where, he alleged, Indians have been fomenting the insurgencies in FATA and Balochistan. Prime Minister Gilani, during his July 18 meeting with the Indian counterpart at Sharm el-Sheikh, raised the issue of Indian interference in Balochistan. NWFP Governor Awais Ghani and foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also voiced their concerns over the issue on record. The ISPR spokesman Major General Athar Abbas had also presented some facts about the Indian infiltration from Afghanistan as foreign agents, along with huge caches of arms of Indian origin that were captured by the Pakistan Army. The Indian Army, in collaboration with the RAW, has established networks in Afghanistan. They have spent millions of dollars, increased number of troops, have laid out plans to set up cantonments even as around 18 Indian consulates work in Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad, Kandhar and other areas close to Pak-Afghan border. These establishments are busy imparting training to terrorists that are, eventually, exported to Pakistan's Swat and tribal regions. A large number of Indian-trained Afghan refugees is also involved in criminal activities. India has also intensified support to separatists in Balochistan. They are not only getting arms and ammunition from Indian military bases in Afghanistan but also spearheading anti-federation campaign through rebel Baloch Sardars. The purpose of subversive activities in Balochistan is also aimed at gaining sympathies of general masses for Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). A number of madressas in Afghanistan are being run by the so-called religious scholars from Indian RAW to indoctrinate the local youths against Pakistan. By doing all of this, India is actually serving the strategic interest of the world powers to create an independent state of Balochistan to help contain China and subdue Iran. -SHUMAILA RAJA, Rawalpindi, October 3.
