Karachi, Wapda, Army score wins in National Women’s Basketball Championship

LAHORE-Karachi, Pakistan Wapda and Pakistan Army recorded victories in the National Women’s Basketball Championship being played at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.
According to information made available here on Tuesday, in the first match of the day, Karachi defeated Rawalpindi by 15-6. Karachi dominate the match right from the word go and they were enjoying 8-2 lead by the end of the half time. They continued their good show in the remaining match and added seven points in their tally, winning the match by 15-7. Hiba Faraz was top scorer from Karachi team with eight points while from Rawalpindi, Hania Rehman (4) played well. 
The second match of the day saw defending champions Pakistan Wapda thrashing Islamabad by 81-16. Wapda players displayed outstanding skills and techniques to take 41-2 lead in the half time, while added 40 more points in the second half to win the match with a huge margin of 81-16. Amina Mukhtar top-scored with 15 points while Hijab Fatima scored 14 and Sidra 12 points from the winning team. 
In the third match of the day, Pakistan Army registered a comfortable 73-14 victory against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Ayesha Khan emerged as top scorer from the winning side as he contributed with convincing 16 points while Fajar Fatima and Amna also played brilliantly and scored 12 and 10 points respectively. 
Four matches will be played on the third day of the championship as eight top teams including defending champion Pakistan Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad Whites, Pakistan Army, Lahore, Islamabad Blues and Peshawar are participating in the five-day championship, which will be concluded on October 7.
