Police action spurs stampede in Lasbela power protest

Several people were injured while they burst into a stampede as a result of aerial firing by police in a bid to disperse the demonstrators protesting against the crises of power and water in Lasbela area of Karachi.
The riot police partially restored the traffic at Lasbela Chowk after over an hour of worst traffic-jam. The demonstrators hurled stones at the vehicles.
It should be mentioned here that the residents of Lasbela and adjoining areas gathered on the main artery of the city to protest against the power supply cut-off and prolonged power outages, causing massive gridlock on all abutting roads.
The baton-wielding protesters unleashed their fury over the vehicles of citizens. Reacting to this, police resorted to aerial firing that resulted in stampede causing injuries to several people.
