Dera Ghazi Khan: At least three suspected terrorists on late Wednesday night were killed in an alleged police encounter while two managed to escape.
According to a police spokesman, policemen were taking two accused of attacks on Ahmadi worship places to recover hidden arms when four to five armed men opened firing at police party on Indus Highway near Taunsa Bypass and got freed the two detained men.
“Police chased the attackers and in an encounter at Pull Gajoji three accused Muhammad Hanif, Raja Iftikhar and an unidentified gunman were killed,” the spokesman said.
The slain accused were members of a banned group, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, a criminal was killed in Sheikhupura during a raid by CIA police at Shabastan Chowk area. An accomplice of the slain criminal escaped from the scene, police said.
Three policemen including a sub inspector were injured in the exchange of fire with criminals.
The accused were wanted for their involvement in heinous crimes, police sources said.
