Overseas Pakistanis urged to invest in country

SIALKOT - Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has stressed upon the overseas Pakistanis settled in different countries and business tycoons that they should invest in different fields of the country. Addressing the members of business community and representatives of Sialkot International Airport on Saturday, he said that due support of overseas Pakistanis and business community would pave the way for bringing country out of economic crisis. At this critical juncture there is a great need of expanding tax net for generating revenue and ensure continuity in overall development process of the country he said. The Governor said that in order to save the economy the government has decided to reduce the Ministries. Sardar Latif Khosa said that government was fully aware of the problems being confronted to business community and assured that government would resolve the problems like sui gas and electricity load shedding on top priority basis to ensure smooth productivity and to keep the economic wheel in full motion. The availability of sui gas and electricity is vital for the industrial sector because industrial sector was playing an instrumental role not only in providing employment opportunities but also strengthening the national exchequer he added. The Governor on this occasion assured that all channels and modes would be utilized for starting Sialkot-Dubai flights from Sialkot International Airport. The Governor said that at this juncture unity among the political parties and people had become more vital for the development of national economy. He urged upon the all political parties to shun their differences and forge unity for the larger national interest and sustainable development of the economy. The Governor said that adequate efforts were being made for defusing political tension aimed at resolving peoples problems collectively and to provide strong footing to the country. On this occasion Governor Punjab urged upon the United Nation to play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue laying pending on the agenda of UNO for the past 62 years. The Governor alleged that champions of human rights organizations were failed in taking any step to stop brutalities and human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion Federal Minister for Women Development Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that there was a great need of collective efforts of all political forces for purging the menace of terrorism, unemployment, poverty and other social problems from the society. She said that government was making strenuous efforts for improving its economic polices. The menace of terrorism had reduced the chancefs of foreign investment in the country she said. Dr. Firdous further said government was making all out efforts for developing cordial relationship between employers and employees for smooth productivity in the country. Earlier, Chairman Sialkot International Airport Syed Mukhtar Bokhari in his address of welcome thanked the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for allocating Rs.75 crore for the development airport adding that out of this grant Rs.25 crore had already been released.
