Parvez Elahi lauds Ulema’s role in elimination of sectarian violence

Tahir Ashrafi all praise for Punjab Assembly Speaker over legislation regarding Khatm-e-Nubuwwat

LAHORE - Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi has lauded the role of Muttahida Ulema Board in elimination of sectarian violence and extremism within the country.

“We should have the spirit of tolerating, listening and accepting each other’s point of view. Ulema should guide the government for solving people’s problems,” he said while talking to Pakistan Muttahida Ulema Board Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Majlis Ahrar-e-Islam Emir Syed Kafeel Bukhari, and others who called on him in the Speakers’ Chambers here on Friday.

Thanking the Speaker, Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi apprised him of the three-year performance of the Ulema Board. Ashrafi told the Speaker that the Muttahida Ulema Board provided guidance to different institutions, courts, government ministries in 208 cases besides clearing 326 academic teaching books wherein no material was included against any sect or religion.

He also paid tributes to Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi for rendering religious services. “Credit goes to you for unanimous religious legislation in the Punjab Assembly. Your role in the unanimous legislation over Khatm-e-Nubuwwat will be written in golden words. Inter-faith harmony was promoted during your tenure of government. Oath about Khatm-e-Nubuwwat was included in Nikah Nama, teaching of Holy Quran was made part of compulsory education up to primary ‘nazira’ and with translation up to matriculation,” he said, adding that inclusion of subjects of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat and blasphemy in the academic syllabus were proof of Ch Parvez Elahi’s immense love for the Holy Prophet (SAWW).

He further stated that display of Quranic Ayaat and Ahadith regarding Khatm-e-Nubuwwat in the House and in all offices in all districts of the province was his great achievement.
