Our Staff Reporter KARACHI - Education city will bring multi billion dollar investment in the higher education sector. Master Plan of Education city will be completed by the end of July 2011. This was stated by the Advisor to Chief Minister on Investment Mohammad Zubair Motiwala here in the concluding meeting held with the representatives of ARCOP and CKS, USA. Secretary Investment, Sindh Mohammad Younus Dagha informed Mohammad Zubair Motiwala that Sindh government has already notified an area of 9000 acres for establishing Education City (EC). Core elements of EC are 'local educational and health institutions that will provide solutions to Pakistans challenge of higher education. He informed that the project would be managed by an independent authority, which will oversee the overall management and development of Education City. Mohammad Younus Dagha lauded the salient features of the Master Plan such as community engagement, infrastructure - utilities, roads, IT, storm/sewage systems, civic facilities - schools, health care, day care etc and eco-friendly design, commuter connection to Karachi. Mohammad Zubair Motiwala was informed about the guiding principles of the project which are inclusive interaction and facilitation of institutions and, all stakeholders including Development & Utility agencies and Civil Society. He directed that welfare of locals, their economic opportunities, jobs, access to learning opportunities are part of the plan. Advisor to CM Sindh was informed about the discussion took place in the meeting regarding the Master Plan, infrastructure cost and other related matter with institutions such as Judicial Academy, Aga Khan University, Newports Institute of Communications & Economics, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology, Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation, Sindh Madressa, Quaid-i-Azam Public School, Sir Syed University of Engineering &Technology, Ziauddin University, Habib Foundation and IT & Media City.
