ISLAMABAD : The inaugural round of bilateral political consultations was held between Pakistan and Spain in Madrid on Tuesday focusing on enhancing investment in energy and agriculture sectors and review of bilateral relations. The Pakistan delegation was led by Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Foreign Secretary and included Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain, Rizwan-ul-Haq Mahmood. The Spanish side was headed by Gonzalo de Benito Secades, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. The Consultations covered review of bilateral relations and possibilities of strengthening cooperation in diverse areas of bilateral interest. Special focus was placed on enhancing investment in energy and agriculture sectors in Pakistan.
Possibility of education and cultural cooperation, development of institutional linkages and enhancing people-to-people contacts were also discussed. The two sides also reviewed the status of various MoUs and agreements between the two countries.
