LAHORE - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday offered Eidul Fitr prayers at Jati Umra, Raiwind.

After the Eid prayers, the prime minister prayed for the solidarity, progress and prosperity of the nation and the country. He also exchanged Eid greetings with the people.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz and a large number of MPAs and other people also offered the Eid prayers. The prime minister, on the second day of Eid, telephoned the services chiefs and extended the greetings of Eidul Fitr to them.

He also telephoned Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza and greeted him on Eid.

He also telephonically interacted with Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and exchanged Eid greetings with them. Furthermore, the prime minister also telephoned President Dr Arif Alvi, chief ministers of different provinces, leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), and senior political leaders to extend Eid greetings to them. A day after his similar telephonic conversations with the Muslim world leaders, the prime minister communicated with the local leadership and exchanged Eid greetings besides discussing the country’s political situation. The prime minister telephoned Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and conveyed Eid greetings.

Moreover, he also condemned the ban on Eid congregations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to extending political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they got their right to self-determination.

He also interacted with the chief ministers of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan as well as the acting governor of Balochistan. However, he could not converse with the Balochistan chief minister as he was abroad.

The prime minister telephoned ex-President Asif Ali Zardari and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and extended Eid greetings. They thanked the prime minister for his telephone call and reciprocated the Eid greetings.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also telephoned PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman who congratulated him on his successful visits to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In his conversation with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq, the prime minister exchanged Eid greetings and discussed the country’s political situation. Shehbaz Sharif also telephonically interacted with Communications Minister Maulana Asad Mahmood, Mohsin Dawar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Allama Sajid Mir, Khalid Magsi, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Ali Nawaz Shah, Shahzain Bugti, Aslam Bhotani and Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

He inquired from Chaudhry Salik about the health of Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and expressed good wishes for his early recovery.
