Islamabad - The newly appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan, Richard Olson, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar at her office in Islamabad on Monday.
Welcoming the ambassador,the foreign minister underscored the importance of Pakistan-US relations for effective strategic partnership. She hoped that Olsonwould further strengthenthe existing friendship between the two countries, maintaining a positive trajectory. She stressed the need to focus on matters of key importance;such as revival of the bilateral strategic dialogues, infrastructure and development projects and strengthening of economic and commercial relations. She outlined the important role of the US assistance in the development of energy sector in Pakistan.
The US envoy affirmed his government's commitment to work with the government of Pakistan to achieve shared objectives which included peace and stability in the region. He appreciated Pakistan's sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and briefed the foreign minister on the upcoming working group meetings on economy, finance, energy, defence and water issues.
