PMAS-AAUR organises seminar on media role in promotion of tourism

Rawalpindi- Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organised an information seminar on the role of media in the promotion of tourism and business in Pakistan. Dr Abdul Sabur, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Dr Gulnaz Hameed, Assistant Professor, Dr Safdar Hussain and Lecturers, Dr Abdul Rehman, Dr Saima Asad and Dr Shahid Minhas, Head, Department of Mass Communication, Government Islamia Post Graduate College, Gujranwala and AD Ayesha Butt from Gift University attended as guest speakers.
The purpose of the seminar was to make the youth aware of the importance of tourism and how students can play their role in promoting tourism through media. In today’s modern world, media is the best option for disseminating information and promoting tourism in a faster, easier and cheaper way and tourism benefits from the integration of soft image and economic potential locally, nationally and internationally.
A seminar on the same topic has also been organised at Government Islamia Post Graduate College, Gujranwala.
Speaking on the occasion, AD Ayesha Butt said that students can play their important role in promoting tourism in the country by writing about local historical places. She further said that promotion of tourism can create business opportunities for the people in the country.
Addressing the media, Dr Shahid Minhas said that Pakistan has been blessed with beautiful places. It could increase Pakistan’s GDP by 7 percent and tourism could be instrumental in improving the country’s economy.
The media can play a key role in promoting tourism in Pakistan not only nationally, but also internally but can be a good tool to achieve this goal.
He further said that promotion of tourism on local and national tourism would also create business opportunities for the people in the country.
