KRL FC reach Colombo for AFC President's Cup

ISLAMABAD - KRL Football Club (FC) reached Colombo, Sri Lanka, where they will participate in the group level matches of the 2014 AFC President's Cup last edition starting from today (Wednesday).
KRL FC will play its first match against Sheikh Russel of Bangladesh. Other teams of Group A are Sri Lanka Air Force of Sri Lanka, Sheikh Russel of Bangladesh and Ugyen Academy of Bhutan. KRL’s second match will be against Ugyen Academy of Bhutan on 9th and last match will be against Sri Lanka Air Force on 11th. All the matches will be played at Sugathadasa Stadium of Colombo. After winning the Pakistan Premier League consecutively three times, KRL team qualified for the AFC President Cup 2014 third time this year. Last year, they made history and reached in the final but unfortunately lost at the last minute against Balkans 1-0. In the entire group matches and final round they remained unbeaten.
KRL head coach Tariq Lutfi said: “Unfortunately, KRL FC is without the services of six main players. Its two key players Adil and Kaleemullah has left KRL and joined Dordoi Club this year. Bilawal and Saddam are not participating as they are with the national team going to Palestine whereas KRL captain Samar Ishaq and Saadullah are unfit as the later got injured during match against national team last week.” “We have hired four new players Tanveer, Murtaza, Salman and Raza from local clubs. We have tough sessions of training during the last 20 days and have played some practice matches. I am hopeful the team will play positive and aggressive football and try to win laurels,” Lutfi concluded.
