KARACHI - A suspected robber was killed during an alleged encounter with the police in Korangi area, here on Monday.

Police officials said that the encounter took place when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle were trying to flee after robbing a citizen, namely Ghulam Nabi near Noorani Graveyard in Korangi area within the limits of Zaman Town police station, adding that the police personnel busy on routine patrolling reached the site. Police said that one of the suspects was killed after an exchange of fire, however, his comrade managed to escape under the cover of fire.

The police also claimed to have recovered a pistol and looted cash and a cell phone from the possession of the deceased robber.

SHO Malik Ashfaq said that the killed robber was later identified as 25-year-old Zakir Hussain, adding that he along with his companion was arrested by Shah Latif police in 2015, however, he and his companion managed to escape from the police custody while nearly half of a dozen were already registered against him in different police stations. His body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.


Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested two suspects during separate targeted raids in parts of a metropolis. A suspected target killer was arrested during a targeted raid conducted on a tip-off at Shah Faisal Colony, said the Rangers spokesperson, added that the accused was identified as Raheel Ali Khan aka Builder who was involved in various cases of target killings and extortion. In another raid, the paramilitary force arrested an accused, namely Ahsan Raheem Shaikh during a targeted raid conducted in Paposh Nagar area.

Spokesperson for Rangers said that said that accused was involved in various cases of crime and theft. The suspects were later handed over to the police.
