LAHORE: A five-day performing Arts Festival Urain Ge by Lacas will be held from the 15th-19th of November across three different iconic venues in Lahore.
The three venues would be Alhamra Open Air theatre Qaddafi Stadium, Bagh-e- Jinnah Open Air Theatre and Lahore Arts Council Mall Rd.
All proceeds from tickets sales of UrainGe will be donated to the Sundas Foundation. UrainGe by LACAS aims to revive the culture and spirit of performing arts by bringing together the diversity of art fields from theatre, music, dance and film, all on one platform.
Indeed LACAS’s vision is to showcase and nurture pure and original forms of artistic expression, often lost in the current rapid commercialization of performing arts.
To this end, UrainGe will feature a diversity of performances and productions by students across Lahore as well as by seasoned maestros including Kathak virtuoso Nighat Chaudhry and musician Ali Hamza.
The festival will be home to a day dedicated to film, documentaries, and photography. A day of live music from emerging bands and musicians with Youth Studio and the live concert by renowned musician Ali Hamza would be performed.
Speaking about the festival, Naila Zahid, Head of Central Activities Department at LACAS said, “UrainGe is a manifestation of our vision at LACAS. We have always sought to pioneer the promotion of liberal arts and are privileged to have served as a major contributor to the Arts in our country, be it through music, art, drama or dance.
In fact, some of Pakistan’s most definitive artists were students of LACAS including HSY, Nadia Jamil, KamiarRokni, MekaalHasan, FarhadHamayun. We also strongly believe in the importance of social responsibility, which is why will be donating the entire proceeds of the festival to the very credible Sundas Foundation,” she said.
