ISLAMABAD - Former Interior Minister and founder of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that ‘use of bullet’ instead of ballot will be disastrous for the country. In a tweet on Thursday, he said any unwise move on part of the govt would lead to anarchy in the country. “This would also lead to an economic disaster,” he added. He said the people of Islamabad had started storing essential commodities in fear of violence in the coming days. He said the government, through putting containers on roads, is going to besiege 2.5 million people. “This will prove of no use… people from Islamabad and the hills will come on the street,” he added. He claimed that containers cannot block the way of the people. He said the army would not open fire on its own people rather it would bring the warring parties to the negotiation table. Rashid said after the Army Chief’s statement over his retirement, the rumours have died down and, he added, fresh elections should be held at the earliest. He said 22 out of 75 ministers are without portfolios.
