Martyrs’ sacrifices unforgettable, says DCO


LAHORE – District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said lives and sacrifices of martyrs in 1965 war were unforgettable for the entire nation and bravery shown by Pakistan Army in defending the country.
He expressed these views while presiding over a ceremony regarding Defence Day held at Town Hall on Thursday.
On the occasion, Commodore Akbar Naqvi, Group Captain M.Z Faisal, MNA Pervaiz Malik and students, Civil defence volunteers and people belonging to different walks of life were also present on the occasion. The DCO MNA Pervaiz Malik, Commodore Akbar Naqvi and Group Captain M.Z Faisal jointly hosted Hilal-e-Istaqlal Flag. Later on the volunteers of Civil Defence department gave guard of honor to DCO. National songs and national Anthems were sung by the students of Govt. Model School for girls Model Town Lahore and by a band of Punjab Police. The chief guests appreciated the students and cash Prizes were announced by MNA Pervaiz Malik, Commodore Akbar Naqvi and CM Punjab.
Later, the DCO paid a visit to the grave of martyr Major Shabbir Sharif on the occasion of Defence Day of Pakistan (6th September), he prayed for the departed soul and paid him rich tribute due to his bravery and great sacrifice for the country. He said that Martyr Maj. Shabbir Sharif was a brave, valiant and heroic person, who sacrificed his life for the sake of country and his services for the country were matchless and outstanding.
Furthermore He said that we are proud of our martyrs of Pak Army who sacrifice their lives for the country and its people. TMO Samanabad Town, Imtiaz Awan was also present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, the DCO said citizens should plant those trees which are helpful in elimination of dengue mosquitoes in their lawns and gardens.
The DCO said that Lemon Grass, Tulsi, Niazbo and Marry Gold plants are the favorite plants to eliminate dengue mosquitoes. He expressed these views on the inauguration of plant stalls ceremony at Town Hall.
Do (Forest) Abdul Jabbar and other Officers were also over there. The DCO said that these stalls of plants had been established at 8 different places of the city such as Jail Road, Wapda Town, Mall Road, Nishter Town, Sabza Zar, Thokar Niaz Baig and Town Hall. He told that citizens could get these plants till 15th September free of cost. He directed DO (Forest) to monitor all plant stalls.
Also, the DCO said ulema were the backbone of the society and no campaign could be successful without their participation. He asked ulema to be the part of the polio campaign starting from 10th September. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting regarding Polio campaign with the prominent ulema of the city here at town Hall on Thursday afternoon. EDO Health, DOC, representatives of UNICEF were present on the occasion. He requested ulema to ask people in their Jumma sermons to administer polio drops to their below five year children so that this disease could be eliminated from the country. DCO Lahore also appreciated the efforts of ulema in the previous polio campaign. ulema also assured DCO about fully participation at in polio campaign.
