Senators grill CDA over delay in uplift work

ISLAMABAD - Grilling Chairman CDA and his team for slow pace of work, Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat and Capital Administration Development Division Tuesday expressed concerns over the delay in the development work in Park Enclave and Kurri Model Village.
Besides, the committee raised questions about performance of legal wing of Capital Development Authority, which according to the chairman and members of Senate committee was not functioning well and need to be restructured. The committee met here at the Parliament House, presided over by its chairperson Senator Kalsoom Parveen. While another members of committee included Senator Syeda Sughra Imam, Senator Rubina Khalid, Senator Mir Muhammad, Yousaf Badini, Senator Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan and Senator Begum Najma Hameed who questioned chairman CDA for slow pace of work and failure of civic body to complete different projects in time. Especially slow pace of work and delay in the progress of the Park Enclave and Kurri Model Village projects irked the senators. The chairman and members of senate standing committee made it loud and clear that no good input despite claims by the civic body officials in the last meeting of the committee, and observed that CDA plots auction procedure is not transparent. The committee was told that that Kurri Model Village project is delay for the last three years and directed the civic body officials to submit detail report in this regard. The committee also expressed displeasure over the performance of the Legal Wing of the CDA, saying that it should be strong to defend the civic body. This made the committee to direct the chairman CDA to submit detail report of the Legal Wing and about its lawyers. Also affairs of Sawan Garden Cooperative Housing Society came under discussion during course of proceedings of committee. The chairman and members of committee expressed displeasure over performance of civic body and asked critical questions from Chairman CDA. Chairman of the committee expressed displeasure over the delay in the election of the society and directed to hold election as soon possible.
Newly appointed Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal said that present management of the CDA is fully committed to complete Park Enclave Project in shortest possible time. He said that all efforts are being made to put the project on right track and complete the development works on fast track basis, adding that the result will be significantly visible in few month's time and the infrastructure development works will be completed on approval of project-PC-1.
