Babar claims PTI has admitted using accounts for prohibited funds

Foreign funding case

ISLAMABAD    -   Akbar S Babar, petitioner in PTI foreign funding case, on Tuesday claimed that PTI has acknowledged using accounts for prohibited funds but did not provide details to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

While presenting his lengthy arguments before a three-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the PTI financial expert Najam Shah said that the review report submitted by Akbar S Babar was based on assumptions.

Lashing out at the petitioner’s report, he said that Babar had objected to the use of photocopies instead of the original documents. However he clearly said that the original record has never been given but only shown to the competent authority. He said that the scrutiny committee worked hard but the results of the committee were completely wrong.

Akbar S Babar’s lawyer raised an objection that the PTI lawyer Anwar Mansoor did not appear before the scrutiny committee in person.

CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja remarked that it was not necessary to be present before the committee personally, adding that legal teams from both sides were present there.

The hearing of foreign funding case was adjourned till 8 June.

Later talking to media persons, Akbar S Babar said that PTI did not submit verified documents and submitted photocopies.

The scrutiny committee was badly managed, he added.

Babar alleged that millions of rupees came into the accounts of the PTI employees and PTI is now using new tactics day by day. He claimed that PTI wanted to stop hearing of the foreign funding case for ten years.
