LAHORE - A special anti-terrorism court on Thursday sent Mustafa Kanju, son of former Minister of Foreign Affairs Siddique Kanju and his four guards, to jail on three-day judicial remand.

Mustafa Kanju is accused of killing a 17-year-old orphan boy and injuring another. Kanju and his guards including Ikram Ullah, Asif, Saad and Sadiq were produced before the court of ATC judge.

However, the police could not submit challan upon which the judge expressed serious concerns and directed him to immediately submit challan on the next hearing.

As per case details, Kanju was arrested after a case was registered against him under 7-ATA and Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

BAIL DISMISSED: The Lahore High Court dismissed a bail application of a man allegedly involved in fraud of Rs10 million.

Irshad Nasir, a resident of Gujranwala, filed the application saying that police lodged a fake case against him and implicated him in a fraud case he had nothing to do with. He said police was also conducting raids at his house and harassing him. He prayed to the court to grant him interim bail, so that police could not arrest him.

A law officer, however, told the judge that the accused had deprived a number of traders from Rs 10 million. He said now the accused was not joining the police investigation. He requested the judge not to grant him bail.

After hearing both sides, Justice James Joseph dismissed bail application of Irshad Nasir. As the accused came to know that his bail application had been rejected he tried to flee but the police officials foiled his attempt and took him in custody.

Plots’ record sought: The Lahore High Court on Thursday sought record of the plots from Lahore Development Authority in a petition challenging distribution of plots among different people in Garden Town by Nawaz Sharif when he was Punjab Chief Minister back in 1988.

A citizen through Advocate Noshab A Khan filed a petition, pleading that he wanted to become party in the case.
