ISLAMABAD - A man was arrested on the charges of defrauding SSP Investigation Islamabad by impersonating an Additional Secretary at Office Management Group (CTP-26) in the federal capital, informed a police spokesman on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Syed Nahim Azhar Abbas, resident of I-8/3 Sector, against whom a case under sections 419/170 of PPC has been filed, he added.
According to him, ASI Shafqat Faiz submitted a plaintiff with Police Station (PS) Shamas Colony that he is posted as Reader to SSP Investigation Ata Ur Rehman and was dealing with the visitors when a person namely Qamar Shehzad (applicant of FIR No 233/21 registered with Kohsar Police under section 420 of PPC) along with another man Syed Nahim Athar Abbas stepped into the office.
He mentioned Syed Nahim introduced himself as Additional Secretary in Office Management Group (CTP-26) and a close friend of SSP Investigation Ata Ur Rehman.
The duo requested to arrange their meeting with the SSP which was done later on, he said adding that during the meeting the SSP got suspicious about the job of the man. He added it was revealed during verification from the authorities concerned that Syed Nahim is not posted as Additional Secretary anywhere rather a fraudster and has also been booked by FIA on charges of impersonating Advisor to Chief Justice of Pakistan.
“The impersonator is involved in minting money from public for jobs in government sector and gets illegal favour from government officers while impersonating as additional secretary,” the plaintiff said.
Police has lodged an FIR against the fraudster and held him, the spokesman said.
