Gilani warns against deepening political crisis

MULTAN-Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani warned on Tuesday the situation could turn further worse if immediate and correct decisions are not taken to overcome prevailing political crisis in the country.
Talking to a delegation of Aman Organisation here at his residence, Gilani said that the political crisis is further deepening in the country. “The polls should be held on time as it is the only solution to all current problems,” he asserted.
Mr Gillani said that the PPP always respected national institutions including judiciary. “We’re striving for strengthening democracy and institutions till today,” he added. He said that the democratic powers should launch joint efforts to resolve all problems being faced by the country. He stressed upon the democratic powers to exhibit responsible behaviour so that no other power could raise finger on democratic elements. He asked the government to fulfil its responsibility for maintaining law and order in the country.
He declared that PPP would hold an historic public meeting in Multan on December 15. “It will be addressed by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other main leaders of the party,” he declared.
He pointed out that the role of social organisations in promoting peace in the society was vital. “Their efforts should be recognised and lauded,” he added.
He said that the killing of a member of Pakistani diplomatic mission in Afghanistan is highly regrettable. “This brutal act of the killers should be condemned strongly,” he added. The delegation was led by the chairman of Aman Organization Idrees Butt.
