NUSA DUA (Indonesia) (AFP) - Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova will try to bounce back from a first-round loss at the US Open when she takes to the courts at this week's Bali Open as the top seed. The world number 12, who lost in the final here last year to Lindsay Davenport, has struggled this year to recover from a stress fracture in her foot that sidelined her for much of the European clay-court season. But the 25-year-old Slovakian - looking for her first title of the year - should be raring to go when play begins Monday, after suffering a surprise first-round loss at Flushing Meadows to Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld.Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, a two-time semifinalist in Bali, arrived in Indonesia fresh from a quarterfinal showing in New York."I love Bali, it's like a holiday," said the 29-year-old, who is ranked 15th in the world."There are always some top players there, so it's a good test to start the autumn." Schnyder, the second seed in Nusa Dua, reached the semis here in both 2005 and 2006, but lost in the second round a year ago. She is in the hunt for her first WTA title since 2005. Flavia Pennetta, who lost to Dinara Safina in the US Open quarter-finals, is the third seed in Bali. Russia's Nadia Petrova, fighting to lift her slumping world ranking of 21, is seeded fourth. She will make her first appearance in Bali since 2004, when she lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. Italy's Francesca Schiavone, seeded fifth, lost the 2005 final in Bali to Davenport.The 32-year-old American launched her singles comeback in Bali last year, just three months after giving birth to son Jagger. The former world number one and three-time Grand Slam champion suffered a third-round loss at the US Open to France's Marion Bartoli. She said after the match that she was contemplating her future on the tour.
