Six people were believed to have died when a cargo plane crashed in the mountain highlands of Indonesia's eastern Papua province Thursday, officials said. The Aviastar cargo plane was travelling from the provincial capital Jayapura to Wamena town when it crashed at 8:00 am (2300 GMT Wednesday) while attempting to land, Mimika town air transport chief Jonrettob said. "We are still investigating the cause of the crash," he said, adding that the plane was carrying election material including ballot papers and boxes for a general election being held across the country on Thursday. "Without the materials, some polling stations could not carry out the elections," he added.
